TEAM GB FALL TO GEORGIA IN OPENER

Team GBR kicked off their vital summer campaign in Pau, France yesterday with an unluckly 65-63 defeat to Georgia.

The teams spent the first half sizing each other up, the Georgians shot the ball well from the three-point line and got a few buckets in transition whilst Chris Finch's Team were very strong on the boards.

The first half ended on a knife-edge with the teams tied 32-32 following a great hustle play by Roger Huggins, which resulted in a bucket by NBA star Luol Deng to tie the score with just one second remaining.

The second half was a close affair until the Georgians pulled away in the fourth quarter. Some key three-point shooting held Great Britain at bay in the closing minutes.

Leading scorers for Great Britain were Deng, 19, Reinking, 15 and Betts, 14.

Team GBR only have to wait till tomorrow for their next game with Georgia, which tips off at 4pm.

The team then travel to Croatia for matches against New Zealand, Finland and Croatia.
