FLORIDA WIN 2nd STRAIGHT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Florida won their second-straight US college basketball title by beating Ohio State 84-75 in Atlanta.
The Gators became only the eighth team to retain the NCAA trophy and the first since Duke Blue Devils did so in 1992.
Florida also compounded the misery of the Ohio State Buckeyes, who they also beat to prevail in college football's showcase game in January.
Ohio's Greg Oden, who is projected to be the number one pick in the NBA draft, top-scored with 25 points.
And Mike Conley Jr - the son of the former Olympic triple jump champion of the same name - chipped in with 20 points and six assists.
But those outstanding efforts were matched by a trademark team effort from Florida, for whom four players scored in double digits.
Joakim Noah - son of French tennis ace Yannick - was held to eight points after running into foul trouble against Oden.
"I feel like we've accomplished something special," Noah said.
"So many people doubted us, but we're in the books now. People can say whatever they want about this team, but in the end, they have to say we won back-to-back titles."
